  • EFTPOS
  • cheque

Payment can be made at any of our clinics. Head Office does not accept payments.

If you have any queries about your account, please speak with our reception staff on the day of your appointment, or contact our accounts department on 8331 5601.

Speeding up your Medicare refund claim

Benson Radiology has Medicare Australia online claiming available at all clinics. Your Medicare rebate can be paid directly into your bank account.

Gap payments

The Medicare rebate will cover part of the fee charged for most examinations. If your examination is not eligible for a Medicare rebate our staff will inform you prior to your appointment.

Some patients will be required to make a gap payment in addition to the Medicare rebate. This gap payment varies depending on the type of examination and the location at which it's performed.

Benson Radiology caps the gap incurred by a patient in a seven day period to $420, regardless of the number of rebateable examinations performed. Please note there are a small number of procedures that are not included in the weekly price cap.

Benson Radiology is a private radiology practice. Our fees are based on recommendations by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists. We attempt to keep our gap payments to a minimum while maintaining the highest standards in imaging technology.

If you have any questions regarding our billing policy, please don't hesitate to speak with our friendly staff prior to your appointment.

Gap payments for pensioners and Health Care Card holders

We are proud to bulk bill pensioners and Health Care Card holders for most Medicare-rebateable examinations. Gaps may be applicable for a small amount of ultrasound, interventional or complex studies.

Hospital inpatients

Benson Radiology has arrangements with a large number of private health funds which ensures a ‘no gap’ policy for in-hospital patients. Check with us or your health fund prior to being admitted to hospital.

If you require imaging in a private hospital accident and emergency department prior to being admitted as an inpatient, normal out-patient fees apply.

For overseas patients please refer below.

Overseas patients

All overseas patients who do not hold a valid Australian Medicare card for the date(s) of service are required to pay in full on the day.

For all hospital inpatient examinations / scans invoices will be posted direct to the patient. Patients are required to pay the invoice in full within 7 days of the date of invoice to Benson Radiology. Depending on your insurance cover, you may be eligible to claim a portion of fees paid as a rebate through your insurance company. Our fees are billed in accordance with the Medicare Benefit Schedule (MBS).

We recommend that you contact your insurance company as soon as practicably possible after admission to advise your insurer of your hospital admission and to clarify what your policy does or does not cover.

The Medicare Safety Net

Medicare Australia offers a safety net system to limit the amount patients pay for medical expenses – contact Medicare on their hotline number, 132 011, for more information.
