Benson Radiology now offering bone density testing in Mount Gambier

Mount Gambier’s health services received a boost this week when Benson Radiology introduced bone density testing at its Crouch Street branch.

The state of the art GE Lunar Prodigy scanner provides information about a patient’s bone strength and the risk and probability of suffering fractures.

The scan also allows for the identification of conditions such as osteoporosis and also helps inform treatment decisions for patients who already have it.

Depending on a patient’s circumstances, the bone density test may be covered by Medicare.

The Crouch Street branch is the first in Benson Radiology’s regional network to provide bone density testing. The service is also offered at the Ashford, Modbury Hospital, Salisbury and Morphett Vale branches.
