Prostate Cancer Awareness Month
18 September 2020
Prostate Cancer is the second most diagnosed cancer among Australian men, with around 19,000 new cases found each year.
Early prostate cancer may have minimal symptoms, that’s why it’s important that men, particularly those over 50, talk to their GP about their prostate health and available testing.
In terms of imaging tests, MRI of the prostate is an ideal and non-invasive study to investigate the prostate. Pleasingly, it also now carries a Medicare rebate, making it more available and more affordable for thousands of Australian men. Benson Radiology provides these tests on the latest 3T MRI scanners at City West, Salisbury and Ashford.
In addition to MRI, PET scans using Prostate Specific Membrane Antigen (PSMA) are the gold standard study for the staging of newly diagnosed prostate cancers. These scans are available at our City West clinic.
So spread the word, encourage the discussion of prostate health, and get tested.
